Faculty Reading Groups
TIIS offers funding and support to those faculty members who wish to establish reading groups to encourage discussions with colleagues across divisions and disciplines. For these approved Faculty Reading Groups, TIIS will purchase copies of the books being read for each member of the group and cover other incidental expenses.
If you’re interested in starting a Faculty Reading Group with two to four faculty from at least two departments/programs, please apply!
To apply, submit a one-page proposal that includes (1) a brief explanation of your shared interests, (2) a reading list and projected schedule of four to five meetings, (3) and budget of expenses.
Faculty Writing Groups
TIIS offers funding and support to those faculty members who wish to establish writing groups to encourage discussion and foster input with colleagues across divisions and disciplines. These groups may be organized around writing grants, manuscripts, or monographs at any stage.

Faculty Feedback Workshops
TIIS sponsors a program for Trinity faculty members who are either preparing a new grant application or in the final stages of preparing a manuscript for submission to a press. The faculty member who wishes to have such a document or manuscript read by a group of faculty members would work with TIIS’s directors to select a small group of faculty members from Trinity and one off-campus reader, all of whom would read the manuscript or grant document and meet for a daylong workshop to discuss it. Lunch and snacks are provided. All participants will receive a modest stipend.
To apply, submit a one-page proposal that includes (1) a brief explanation of your project, (2) a statement attending to the benefits you anticipate from interdisciplinary engagement, and (3) the names of three potential on-campus readers and one-off campus reader.
Interdisciplinary Events and Speakers
TIIS is happy to provide financial and organizational assistance to those faculty members who wish to bring events or speakers to campus. Those who wish to host events or speakers that reach across divisions are especially encouraged to apply. Depending on departmental needs and the speaker’s schedule, speakers may either be brought to campus for an in-person event or streamed to the Trinity College community via Zoom.
Depending on budgetary constraints, TISS can potentially cover the speaker’s travel, housing, food, or honorarium.
The application for event or speaker funding must be submitted at least 30 days in advance of the event. To apply for support, submit a one-page proposal that includes (1) a brief explanation of the event that clearly articulates the event’s interdisciplinarity, (2) a list of two to four departments or programs that could benefit from the event, along with a description of how your proposed events reaches the departments and programs listed, (3) a detailed budget of expenses.
